PLP Short Shifter install

The newest mod to Hazy is the Pro Lex Performance “Second Generation” short shifter (PLP G2 is what everyone calls it). Wasn’t too complex of an install, pretty straightforward. It came with all the instructions you need, and you don’t need any special or unusual tools. Follow the jump for pics, details.

Installing the Short Shifter

Original Shifter Removal

Getting the new short shifter in was a little tricky. i don’t know why. i could get the stock one in and out super easy, maybe it was because the stock shifter is taller i got a better angle on it. The only other issue was that once i got the short shifter in once i took it back out, and the bushing stuck in the hole. I think that the transmission was still a little warm after i had test driven it, and i think it heated up and wrapped itself right around the bushing. took some work to get that out. but it all went back together fine.

Short shifter install

The short shifter is a little louder, you can hear a lot more noise from the transmission. Except in 4th gear, then you cant hear it at all. I think it has something to do with the way the rubber pieces are sitting. It also depends on what the leather shift boot is touching. With the short shifter in theres a lot of extra leather flopping around. might need to find a new one of those too…
